Issaquah, WA is a little city with a big heart and big ideas, about 15 miles east of Seattle. Surrounded by the Cascade mountains, also called the "Issaquah Alps" with lakes, parks, trails and green space adorning the area. It boasts incredible walking trails, parks, (one just for dogs, Bark Park!), a trolley, a historic downtown, and The Issaquah Salmon Hatchery. We have fun in Issaquah. We have car shows, and a public market. Issaquah enjoys being on Lake Sammamish. Issaquah zip codes include 98027, 98029, and part of 98075. Issaquah Highlands Hosts Highlands Days

June 30th, 2008

Even if you don’t live in Issaquah Highlands, you can come to Highlands Days, and by the look of things many of you did. You don’t even have to live in Issaquah. I know people from Covington, Woodinville, Seattle and Bellevue who joined the folks having fun yesterday. Take a look. There is also a post on www.IssaquahHighlandsUndressed.com.

There was a Kids Parade, Food Booths, Entertainment, Vendors, Carnival Fun to name a few things. Ashley and Sara take a spin. Alexia, Chase, Kayla and others swing through the air with the greatest of ease. But things got a little tramatic when Chase had to get off! He was not happy!

Tootsie Pops can make you forget a big disapointment, at least when you are two. Or how about a Goldfish toss.

The Fabulous Roof Shakers

Poasted Pig anyone?

Bubbleman gets ready……………………..  www.bubbleman.com

PLEASE don’t touch the BIG BUBBLES, or the Bubbleman. And don’t cross the purple line!

There was Pizza, Pork, Hotdogs, Mexican Food, PCC Food, Snow Cones, Popcorn, Root Beer, Beer, etc. Was it a little too pricey?

Sarah rides in the parade, as does this electric car, plus ballerinas and bears.

Not everything was just for kids, if you didn’t stick around or come back for the last 3 hours or so, you missed a lot.

The Seattle Matsuri Taiko Drummers

and the Te Fare O Tamatoa Tahitian Dancers

I missed the following presentations:

The Sabha India Dance Troupe…You can find out about them at www.FromWithinAcademy.org.

Dance Heads…looks like fun www.danceheads.com.

Panduo Steel Drum Duo www.leapfrog-entertainment.com

MK Ballet…..Check out our post on this delightful ballet studio http://issaquah.neighborhoodsundressed.com/2008/04/25/mk-ballet-an-exciting-addition-to-issaquah/

Last Friday evening I had the pleasure of attending the 29th annual cannonball and belly flop contest sponsored by Big John Griffith of Re/Max real estate. This was an all age event and I mean all ages!!

The mapping of the sold homes makes it easy to find homes in the neighborhood you are interested in. The map also shows what the list price and final price the home sold for. June sales are the current default, but you can add by month since we starting recording the homes sold in Issaquah in March. The data is taken from the Northwest MLS. Mountains To Sound Greenway

The mountains to Sound Greenway is a 1.4 million acre scenic recreation corridor along I-90 between Seattle and Central Washington.

Since 1991 the non-profit Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust has worked successfully to set this dramatic landscape aside from urbanization so there will be wildlife habitat and breathing room for generations to come.

This weekend, June 28 and 29 they celebrate Greeway Days. They ask you to take the Greenway Challenge: to visit 5 or 10 Challenge sites. Take photo proof of your visit. Submit your photos for a chance to win great prizes such as K2 Snowboard with bindings and a family hiking package from REI.

Click here for the Greenway site for more information.

Issaquah Open Houses Information, Mapped

Home Sales were up the last 30 days, open houses are down this week. Is their a relationship that would indicate fewer homes on the market? Nope. More homes on the market. Click here to see which agents are holding open houses this weekend. Some subscribe to the philosophy open houses don’t work. I disagree. Open houses are in my opinion a great way to see Issaquah Homes for sale. It can be efficient.

Seattle Center is Still Fun and Still There

Yep, It is still there. We had the opportunity to go Wed. night with Amber, to celebrate her 16th Birthday. A little late, but things have been complicated. The day started out with clouds, clouds and more clouds but by the evening the clouds lifted, the sun sprang forth. We couldn’t have asked for a better day/evening.

I Love that tree by the EMP!

Amber spots her next car.

Space Needle and its reflection in the EMP/Then the view from the top.

Experience Music Project compliments of Paul Allen and architect Frank O. Gehry.

Above, the sun reflects color from the EMP

Now, That’s a Hot Fudge Sundae and the end of our dinner at the revolving, 360 degrees, Sky City Restaurant on top of the Needle. The dessert is called Lunar Orbitor.

The end of a perfect day just a few miles from the Center -  The Fremont Bridge Troll.

The sunset even had its effect on the troll. He looks much happier than usual!
