Every City Needs a Sister - Ours is Chefchaouen
Chefchaouen is in Morocco and has been our sister city for about a year. Perhaps you remember their interesting booth at Salmon Days last October. The blue door sent to us by Chefchaouen symbolizes the friendship and hospitality between the two cities. This friendship between Issaquah and the Morroccan city was one of many fruits of a student exchange program.

The door was unveiled and dedicated by Mayor Ava Frisinger with members of a delegation of visitors from Chefchaouen looking on. The Issaquah Press has this event as this weeks front page news. For a wonderful article about The Blue Door go to www.issaquahpress.com.
The door is located next to City Hall. You can’t miss it.

Love Morocco, but this just doesn’t look right in Issaquah.

I love Morocco, too, and am THRILLED you have a representation like this here in Issaquah. But I have to partly agree with McIssy, that this doesn’t look quite right. Not because I want it to blend with our decor here, but because it does not really acurately represent Chefchaouen. It is obvious the sentiment of folks like McIssy had an effect on the artists! Could that be why did they changed the true colors seen on those beautiful doors in Chefchoauen to the watered down blue that we see on this sad facsimile? Please see the following Google links to get an idea of the REAL Chefchoauen colors:

As for me, I would have liked to see a more brillant and accurate representation, but at least we have something.
