Iron Chef – Nope! Iron Rod Chef Competition
It was The Lunch Bunch vs The Spice Girls, The Red Hot Chili Peppers vs The Dairy Queens, The Hamburger Helpers vs The Frito Banditos. Six teams with three on each team went head to head with their chef hat’s on. Just like the Iron Chef they had no idea what they were cooking until they unveiled their table and listened for the word to GO! The secret ingredient was given and the race was on. This was Pantry Cooking at its best (or was it at its worst)? Only the judges could tell! The judges were able to keep their calm without a single shiver about what they would have to TASTE! It was truly an act of bravery.

Judges for the Iron Rod Chef Contest.

AND WINNERS ARE: THE LUNCH BUNCH!

This wasn’t just about who could come up with the most appetizing dish but they also had to do it quickly, as you can see from the blurs in the pictures. The crazy outfits required didn’t make things easier either. Look at the shoes in the slide show. But when all was said and done it was a HOOT! Pantry Cooking is about cooking from common staple ingredients that are easy to always have on hand. The Relief Society, a women’s service organization of LDS (Mormon) Women Issaquah 5th Ward, has found a way to make Emergency Preparedness fun.

What fun! Kathleen, I so enjoyed the pictures and the commentary on the “Iron Rod Chef Comnpetition.” Thanks for time and effort to put them up. Good work! Storing doesn’t have to be boring, and pantry cooking can be delicious!!!

Kathleen,
I really like this idea to get people excited about pantry cooking/food storage rotating… Would you be willing to share with me how to set it up/organized it? I’m in one of the singles wards out near by DC. Thanks! I’m not sure if you will receive my email address via this comment, so let me know if you need that type of information.
Have a great day.
