Issaquah Salmon Hatchery - The Salmon are here!
Cool, rainy weather is bringing in salmon in huge numbers. I stopped by the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery yesterday. The water was high and swift and the water murky but see if you can spot the salmon in the pictures I post.
Oops, That is not the real thing. I’ll try again.
There we go. This guy didn’t make it up the ladder with that jump. But he’ll keep trying and trying.
See all those sharklike fins on the lower left. No, not sharks, SALMON by the thousands are under there.
The Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery is a very “Offishial” organization. F.I.S.H. are those guides who provide you with answers to your questions when you visit the hatchery. They lead tours for school children and educate them about issues that affect salmon and their life cycle. They also help everyone understand the necessity of watershed stewardship. F.I.S.H. are always interested in people who want to learn and share to be volunteers. Their website info is on our home page on the right hand column.
Stay tune for more info. SALMON DAYS in Issaquah are Oct 7 & 8
